Following the skiing season, which would end in April maybe a little snow is left in the month of May, enough to enjoy a few runs on the highest point of the Pirin range. The hiking season will commence. Spring and summer are especially good months and July and August can bring very hot weather an enjoyable time to visit these dramatic peaks.
The spring, summer and autumn is a time for exploring the Pirin mountain ans for the more adventurous there are manned huts to stay in where the will provide beds, showers and food. There are also a number of routes for hiking and climbing and enjoy spectacular views across the many mountain lakes.
The height of the Summer season is from June to September the weather is very mediterranean, sunny days and balmy nights. A great time to be in the mountains.
The autumn weather is very variable ranging from blue sky days and chilly nights to wet and grey. I am pleased to say that we definitely see more of the blue sky days and the beautiful autumn colours.
Spring is a lovely time of year with everything coming back to life. The storks appear towards the end of march and stay for most of the summer. Everything is so green.
Winter is the busy time in Bansko with many visitors coming from all over europe and beyond. Bansko has become the diamond of the Balkans for the ski area and the quaint old town. December and January can be quite cold with a lot of sunny days. The balance of the season gets warmer as the season goes on and March time is stunning to be on the slopes in Bansko, normally great snow and not so many visitors.
Due to its natural landscape Bansko has an exceptional variety of birdlife. There are plentiful species for any ornithologist. Maybe it’s because that between seasons migratory birds will stop and rest as this country lies on their direct route before arrive in African countries.
